Apple users have great news as the Cupertino-based company has already started implementing their $29 iPhone battery replacement earlier than they have initially promised.

Apple has updated their apology post and announced that iPhone 6 users can already replace their out-of-warranty batteries for $29 starting Dec. 30. This will be available worldwide until December 2018. Apple initially announced that the reduced price for battery replacement would be available in January 2018.

Apple has also announced that they will be issuing an iOS software update with an added feature. This feature will let iPhone users see the battery's health and performance.

"We expected to need more time to be ready, but we are happy to offer our customers the lower pricing right away," said Apple to The Verge. Apple also added that initial supplies of the batteries may be limited so they expect customers to be patient.

Apple admitted earlier that they have been slowing down older iPhone models (iPhone 6/6 Plus/6s/6s Plus/SE specifically) through a software update for iOS 10.2.1 in 2016 to avoid unexpected shutdowns due to the devices' aging batteries.

Apple's iOS update dynamically manages the maximum performance of the device's system components to prevent a sudden shutdown. The changes have caused longer launch times for apps and a reduction in the device's performance. Apple has received multiple lawsuits since then.

In other news, Apple has started offering the latest iMac Pro via store pickup. The iMac Pro was released on Thursday, Dec. 14.

Mac Rumors updated on Friday, Dec. 29 that the company has started to offer in-store pickups for the base iMac Pro model across many retail stores in the U.S. and Canada. Apple initially allowed in-store pickups in Australia and Japan.

The iMac Pro starts at $4,999 for the base model fitted with eight cores. The 10-core iMac Pro starts at $5,799 while the 14 and 18-core models start at $6,599 and $7,399, respectively.
