While most tech makers continue to roll out the Android Nougat 7.0 platform, Google is readying the release of its major update 7.1. Supposedly, the patch will come to the Nexus lineup by next week.

According to GSM Arena, a mobile carrier may have inadvertently given a hint on when fans can expect a major Android Nougat update at least for the Nexus devices. Reportedly, Australia-based Vodafone has announced that one of its lineups, the Nexus 6P, will receive an OTA notification for an Android Nougat 7.1.1 update on Dec. 6.

Since the Nexus 6P is just one of the Nougat-supported devices in the Google lineup, it is also likely that the rest of the series compatible with the platform will also get the update on the said schedule. This means that the Nexus 5X will also likely get Android Nougat 7.1.1. In addition, since there is still a flagship lineup outside of the Nexus series, it is highly possible that Google will also roll out the major Android 7.1.1 update to the Google Pixel and Pixel XL at around the same time.

The two new Google flagships are already running on Android 7.1. However, the platform is only on its beta version, pending feedback and improvements for a full release.

Previously, it has already been revealed that Google has started the build for the new Android Nougat 7.1 immediately after the release of the base 7.0 version. Currently, Google's beta program for the update is already on its Developer Preview 2 for the Android Nougat 7.1. A December release is also consistent with earlier reports on Google's Android Nougat roadmap schedule.

The Android Nougat platform is the newest version that brings major improvements to Android-run devices. One significant feature for the new platform is the integration of virtual reality support for devices via Daydream VR. However, it should be noted that the new feature still needs compatibility with the support even if the devices are already running on Android Nougat.
