Android Nougat 7.0 updates: Sony Xperia X, X Performance to receive Nougat this month?

The supposed list for Sony Mobile's Android Nougat update has been leaked. Based on the roadmap, the current flagship iterations under the Xperia X lineup will get the update this month.

According to the leaked document, the new Xperia XZ, as well as the top-tier Xperia Performance, will get the Android Nougat 7.0 update sometime this month. It is expected that the two iterations will be the first ones to get the platform update. Sony Mobile has already done it in past flagship lineups. The most recent releases get the new Android version first, followed by previous-generation devices.

While Sony Mobile has not confirmed the supposed release dates for the new platform update, the tech maker has already come out with the confirmed list of devices compatible with the Android Nougat platform, and the new flagships are included.

Meanwhile, in the supposed leaked roadmap, next to get the Android Nougat platform are the base version Xperia X and the Xperia X Compact, with the update rolling out next month. The previous-generation flagships under the Xperia Z lineup, like the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z3+, and the Xperia Z4 tablet, are supposed to be updated by December. The Xperia XA and XA Ultra will be the last ones to get the update in early 2017.

With the Nougat-compatible list of devices already revealed by Sony Mobile, it is confirmed that the update will stop with the Xperia Z3+, with Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 only upgradeable to Android Marshmallow. The Xperia Z1, on the other hand, had its platform update stopped at Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Should the update start this month, this will be welcome news to Xperia users, since it will mean that the tech maker will be the first one to release the update. Other third-party devices from tech makers, like Samsung and HTC, have yet to receive an Android Nougat 7.0 update.
