With reports of test versions of Android Nougat appearing in Samsung devices, the tech maker has officially announced the Galaxy Beta program or the new platform.
In the announcement posted on its website, Samsung has confirmed that the new Galaxy Beta program for the Android Nougat platform has already started rolling out to selected participants. However, while most users can directly download the Galaxy Beta program app, there is likely to be a limited number of participants for the beta test, and not all who have registered will be able to get the update. The post reveals that applicants to the program are on a first come, first served basis.
In addition, the announcement also confirms that while the beta program is already live, the launch is a staggered release. Ostensibly, the Android Nougat beta version is already available for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge owners in the US, UK, and South Korea. Meanwhile, Samsung has not stated a release date for the program in China, although the tech maker says that it will launch soon.
Meanwhile, the beta program is understandably in demand, and observers have mentioned that beta version spots are now likely full. However, some users may not want to check out the rest of the new beta, and opts out of the program for a downgrade. This will then open new spots on the beta list.
Samsung has not specified an end date for the program or when fans can expect the full version to roll out. Nonetheless, the tech maker has said previously that it plans to start rolling out the full version of Android Nougat before the end of the year.
The new beta program for Android Nougat places users as testers for a trial version of the new platform. It usually rolls out to the current-gen flagship, and tech makers such as Samsung collect feedback before rolling out the final version. The beta version is also different from the stock Android platforms that Google releases, since most tech makers layer their own interface as part of the update. For Android Nougat, Samsung has incorporated the new platform with the New UX, an offshoot of the Grace UX on the Galaxy Note 7.
