Seemingly confirming its upcoming roll-out, a developer preview version is already available for Android N. However, it seems that not all devices at this point are compatible with the platform, as reports of broken devices surface online.
AndroidCentral reports that the Android N version reportedly bricks some Nexus devices. The issues are happening on both the OTA update and manual flashing of the developer preview of Android N.
According to the industry follower, those who have signed up for the Android N beta tests and were updated via an OTA notification will just need to wait, even if they are experiencing issues after updating to the Android N developer preview. Since they received the platform via OTA, it can be expected that Google is working on a roll-back to the Android M platform that can be downloaded by the users over the air.
However, users who have downloaded the Android N factory images and updated their Nexus devices manually will be having a harder time sorting out the update. According to Phone Arena, a manual Android N flash means that there will be no OTA notification for the Nexus, even if one is already rolled out by Google. This means that the user will have to manually downgrade the device to Android M, particularly if the Nexus's bootloader is not yet unlocked.
Google made the Android N developer preview available to some of its Nexus products, and the upcoming platform can already be flashed for the current-gen Nexus 5X and 6P, as well as the Nexus 6. A developer preview can also be mounted on the Nexus 9. However, since this is only a developer preview, issues are to be expected, and Google has already advised those wishing to check out the upcoming platform that the current version of Android N is not yet ready for daily use.
