Android Marshmallow update heads out to Samsung Galaxy On7, other flagships

Tech manufacturers continue the Android Marshmallow update, and the latest to roll out the new platform version is tech giant Samsung for the Galaxy On7, as well as other previous- and current-gen lineups.

According to GSM Arena, Samsung has updated the Galaxy On7 to Android Marshmallow. However, it is expected to be a staggered release, since the first devices to get the notification update are the ones in Turkey, with Android build G600FXXU1APF8. This is good news for those who are using the global unlocked version of the Galaxy On7, since it will only take days before their devices update to Marshmallow.

Having an Android Marshmallow update for the Galaxy On7 is already expected, since Samsung has recently announced that a 2016 edition of the handset will also be coming out soon, ostensibly with Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 onboard. This means that the South Korea-based tech giant already has the needed firmware to include last year's edition in the Android update.

Meanwhile, aside from the Galaxy On7, Samsung continues to push Android Marshmallow to its previous and current-gen model lineups. Just recently, the company has also updated the 2016 edition of the Galaxy A5, with other iterations in the Galaxy A-series expected to follow suit. Samsung has also reached out to different mobile carriers to push Android M to their list of devices, with the latest being the Galaxy Note 4 flagship from T-Mobile.

While Samsung continues to update its list of capable devices to Android Marshmallow, there is still a wide gap to be filled before the current-gen platform updates to all supported handsets. To date, it is revealed that only around 10 percent of all Android-run devices are on Android Marshmallow. Meanwhile, another new version is bound to come out soon, as Google is already finalizing the full version of the next-gen platform, Android N.
