Android 6.0 Marshmallow update: find out the Easter egg and tricks that will give you more from this update

Android Marshmallow is the latest platform version from Google. Although Google is already planning to come out with the next-gen version Android N, most tech manufacturers are still pushing for Android Marshmallow for their flagships and mobile devices.

What makes the Android Marshmallow version different from previous, still active platforms?

"OK Google" voice command

Although Google did not announce it, a voice prompt for a search is always readily available. On the home screen with the search bar, as long as the user says "Ok Google," the search option is automatically turned on.

File explorer

Most users still download third-party file explorer apps. However, if the search for a download or an app file is just basic, Android Marshmallow has its own built-in fie explorer function. It is buried though, in the Settings > Storage & USB tabs.

Individual app permissions

With Android Marshmallow, users now have more control over their apps, particularly with permissions. In Settings > Apps, there is a list of permissions per app, and the owner can simply flip off the permissions that grants access to sensitive data.

Google Translate

Google has integrated its Translate feature onto Android Marshmallow. For users who want this service, Google Translate is now one of the options when selecting texts within an app. There is no need to copy the text itself and open a separate Google Translate app.

Battery percentage

Users can now display the battery remaining as percentage in Android M. In the System UI Tuner in the Settings page, users will need to toggle on Show embedded battery percentage.

Easter egg

A hidden game is actually inside Android Marshmallow. Seemingly like a clone of "Flappy Bird," the Easter egg can only be accessed by rapidly tapping the Android Version option in Settings > About Phone tab. The Android Marshmallow icon will then appear, and change into the Marshmallow figure with antennas. Tapping the image at least three times launches the game.
