One of the recent adoptees to the Android Marshmallow platform is the Motorola Droid Turbo 2. However, it seems that last month's release of the new version has been halted for some reason, as it is announced that a "full deployment" has started for the flagship's Android update.
According to a post by David Schuster, Senior Director of Software Project Management, the new update is a "full deployment of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade to Droid Turbo 2 for Verizon." This means that most likely, while the earlier roll-out of Android Marshmallow to the Droid Turbo 2 has reached many users, not all of the devices were able to get the update.
Since the update is being released automatically, an OTA notification will be received and the download will progress. However, as with previous updates, users can also check if the Android Marshmallow platform is already available manually. This can be done via the Settings tab, checking and refreshing the System Update > Check for system update options.
According to Droid Life, the update will progress the build as build version 24.14.12. For those who are not yet Marshmallow-ready, the update will roll out in two stages. The first update notification will update the build to 23.31.24, while the final one will install the full version of Android Marshmallow.
Meanwhile, Android Headlines surmised that the recent rollout of the Android Marshmallow for the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 is the scheduled full version release. Reportedly, the previous rollout only reached a percentage of Droid Turbo 2 devices since it is only a soak test. This means that Verizon decided to only update a certain number of Droid Turbo 2 devices with an earlier version of Android Marshmallow. Should this be true, then it certainly explains why there is a two-part Android Marshmallow update, particularly to those who have already received a 6.0 version update last March.
