While Samsung has already rolled out the current Android Marshmallow platform to most of its flagship lineups, some models have yet to get their updates, particularly the carrier-locked versions. T-Mobile subscribers can tick their Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 off the waiting list, as the carrier starts rolling out its Android M version for the flagships.
Announcing the update release, T-Mobile has now updated its support page to reflect Android 6.0.1 support for the Galaxy S6 Edge+. The release began at the start of the week, and as a staggered release, continues until all the model versions get updated to the latest platform. The new Android Marshmallow update brings the build number for the carrier-locked Galaxy S6 Edge+ to baseband version G928TUVU2DPD1, once the update completes for the device.
The update starts with an official notification being sent to T-Mobile subscribers using the Galaxy S6 Edge+. However, those who have yet to receive on OTA notification can also manually check if the update can already be downloaded to their device via the Software Updates option in the Settings and About Device tabs. Meanwhile, since the update is considered to be a major one – particularly for those who will jump straight to Android M from a previous Android Lollipop version – it is advisable to have an ample allowance on both memory and battery life. It is also better to download and install the update via WiFi for stable connectivity, against data-charged connection.
The Android Marshmallow update comes in as a substantial 1.34 GB download.
Meanwhile, T-Mobile also posted that the Android Marshmallow update is also now available for the Galaxy Note 5. With the update in place, the baseband version of the flagship updates to N920TUVU2DPD1, and firmware will be the 6.0.1 version of the current platform.
The Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 are the latest additions to the Android Marshmallow update from T-Mobile. However, the updates can be seen to be late releases, since some of the other carriers have already rolled out their Android M versions early this year. In addition, Google is said to be already in the final stages of a new Android N platform, to be showcased next month.
