'American Horror Story' air date, cast news: 'New Girl' actor checks in 'Hotel'

A new face has been cast for the next season of "American Horror Story," and fans might be surprised to see him in the popular horror anthology.

A report posted on the website of Time Magazine said "American Horror Story" series creator Ryan Murphy announced on his official Twitter account that American hunk actor Max Greenfield will star in Season 5, which has been subtitled "Hotel."

This will be a change of genre for Greenfield, who is most well-known for his role in the sitcom, "New Girl." He also previously starred in comedies such as "Ugly Betty" and teen drama "Veronica Mars."

In his Twitter announcement, Murphy said Greenfield will play a role he has never played before. He did not provide further detail on the "American Horror Story" newbie's role.

"This October, Max Greenfield (like you've never seen him) is checking in to the hotel… but not checking out," the "American Horror Story" series creator said in a tweet.

Greenfield has been nominated for in the Golden Globe, Emmy, Critics' Choice Television awards for his role in "New Girl."
"American Horror Story: Hotel" will be top billed by pop star Lady Gaga and American actor Matt Bomer.

Some veterans of the franchise, including Angela Bassett, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates and Evan Peters, will also be returning for the next season.

In a related news, EOnline.com posted Instagram photos of Lady Gaga showing how the 29-year-old pop singer dyed her hair platinum blond for her role in "American Horror Story: Hotel."

"American Horror Story: Hotel" will start filming this summer in Los Angeles, and is expected to debut on our television screens this coming October.
