'Agents of SHIELD' season 2: Adrianne Palicki is Mockingbird

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is gearing up for season two and the cast is welcoming someone new.

It has been confirmed that Adrianne Palicki of NBC's "Friday Night Lights" will be a guest star in the show's second run.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Palicki will play superspy Bobbi Morse, better known as Mockingbird. Mockingbird is set to appear on Agents in season two's fifth episode. However, Palicki may play a recurring role.

Palicki will join the show, but she won't work with Agent Phil Coulson and his team. The first mention of Mockingbird was made at Comic-Con in San Diego back in July when Patton Oswalt (plays Billy and Sam Koenig) confirmed that there are indeed Life-Model Decoys in the S.H.I.E.L.D universe. Oswalt also hinted that Bobbi Morse may make an appearance in season two.

Palicki's joining with the Marvel-themed TV series will benefit her career. The show has been successful and is developing a fan base. It has also helped actors like Chloe Bennet (Skye) become more popular.

Other names set to join Palicki in the show's second season are Lucy Lawless (Isabelle Hartly), Reed Diamond (Daniel Whitehall also known as Kraken), Nick Blood (a mercenary), Henry Simmons (Agent Mac) and Simon Kassianides (Bakshi).

Some of Palicki's most famous works are being part of "Legion," "Robot Chicken" and "G.I. Joe: Retaliation." She also played in NBC's "About a Boy."

Palicki is not new to the Marvel Universe. She played Wonder Woman in NBC's "Wonder Woman" and Nadia in the WB's "Aquaman." She will also reprise her role in "G.I. Joe 3" and will star in the movie "John Wick" alongside Keanu Reeves.

Catch Palicki and the "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." as they return with action-packed missions at 9 p.m. September 23 at on ABC.
