Speculations on the new editions of the Samsung Galaxy J-series iterations have come to an end, as the South Korea-based tech giant has made both the 2016 Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 official.

The 2016 versions of the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 are already listed on Samsung's China website. With the pages up and running, the design and specs for the two new additions are confirmed, with the 2016 editions having improvements over their 2015 predecessors. However, according to Android Central, the two new versions of Samsung's budget-class series share similar specs with the Galaxy A-series, although the design have been changed from a glass-and-metal form factor to a metal frame and plastic back panel body.

The listing of the 2016 edition of the Galaxy J5 reveals that the new iteration is a dual-SIM mid-range handset with a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display, with 720 x 1280 HD resolution. In addition, the new version features a yet-unnamed, quad-core processor clocked in at 1.2 GHz paired with 2 GB of RAM.

Meanwhile, the 2016 Galaxy J7 has a slightly larger, 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with full HD 1080 x 1920 resolution. In addition, it is also the more above-average of the two, with a yet-unnamed octa-core processor paired with 3 GB of RAM.

In terms of the camera, both variants deliver the same 13-MP main shooter on the back, and feature a 5-MP selfie camera at the front. Both versions also have the same 16-GB internal storage onboard, expandable for up to 128 GB via microSD support.

However, since it is considered the more premium of the two new additions to the Galaxy J- lineup, the 2016 Galaxy J7's usage and standby time is slightly longer than the Galaxy J5 variant. It has a larger 3,300 mAh battery capacity compared to the 2016 Galaxy J5's 3,100 mAh.
