The eight title in the "Ys" franchise, "Lacrimosa of Dana," was set for a release in a few more days. However, while trying out the game in the PC, game publisher NIS America says that the game is performing poorly, so they are now delaying the game's PC version indefinitely until the issues get sorted out.

A few days ago, the actual release date of the game was set to Jan. 30, 2018. However, one of the biggest issues is that the game gets annoyingly huge framerate drops in some parts of the game. It also reportedly had some memory leaks. At first, it may have been bearable, according to NIS America, but they admitted that they "underestimated the severity" of the problems.

Apparently, the same frame rate issues had already popped up before. However, it was only when they decided to try out a beta test for the game that they realized they needed to get the developers to do the fixing. The game publishers had the original intent of merely porting it to PC, but now, they are working on it themselves. While the memory leak can be solved in a matter of a few days, the framerate drops, the bigger issue, is a bigger job.

"As the PC version of the game was originally envisioned as a port, we avoided touching the core programming as much as possible and focused on PC performance optimization," reads an excerpt in the game's Steam page. "However, in light of the feedback of those who have participated in the second beta test, we have concluded that we cannot avoid modifying the core programming."

NIS America will be getting a new developer to fix the framerate issues, but they have not yet announced a specific developer. From then on, the publishers will be the one taking charge of releasing official announcements.

If things go smoothly, it should still at least be released within the year. The console versions, on the other hand, are already available.
