Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 release date, specs rumors: Xiaomi teases Aug. 25 launch

The Aug. 25 teaser from Xiaomi MySmartPrice

Xiaomi is reportedly planning an Aug. 25 unveiling of its new products.

According to a new teaser, the China-based tech maker has scheduled a press event for August 25. Reportedly, the launch is for two new additions to the Xiaomi smartphone lineup, including the Redmi Note 4. Meanwhile, instead of the expected Mi Note 2 flagship announcement, another mid-ranger addition, the Redmi 4, is also slated to be unveiled.

Having two mid-ranger lineup launches is more likely for the planned Aug. 25 event, since it is possible that Xiaomi is saving the Mi Note 2 for its own stand-alone event. There are also rumors that Xiaomi is planning to breach the U.S. market soon, and a flagship debut for the Mi Note 2 is the more likely event for such.

As for the Redmi Note 4, the Aug. 25 launch will confirm previous speculations about the device. Previously, supposed leaks about the new mid-ranger have sprouted online. According to rumors, the new Redmi Note 4 will have a 5.5-inch display with full HD resolution. Meanwhile, it will feature a deca-core Helio X20 chipset, which will make it the most premium of the Redmi lineups. There will reportedly be two versions of the new iteration, one with a 2GB RAM and 16GB of onboard storage, and an above-average variant with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. Both versions will come out with a 4,100 mAh battery and a 13MP/5MP camera setups for its main shooter and selfie cam.

Meanwhile, the Aug. 25 event is also rumored to be a simultaneous launch with the Redmi 4. The new mid-ranger will supposedly debut with a 5.0-inch display with an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor. As with the Redmi Note 4, the Redmi 3 successor is also reported to launch in two versions, with a base model having 2 GB of RAM and 16-GB memory, while the higher variant carries 3GB of RAM and 64GB on onboard storage.
