Xiaomi Mi Note 2 release date, specs news New Mi Note to launch in two versions?

It is said that Xiaomi will launch the Mi Note 2 as a full flagship lineup, with at least two versions in the series.

Supposed leaks have surfaced online about the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Note 2. Should the specs and features become official, fans can expect at least two iterations for the new flagship. Both versions are expected to come out with a dual-curved, 5.7-inch display. However, there will be differences in the screen features. While the base version will be a regular full HD display, the top-tier version will have a 2K resolution display with 3D Touch-like options.

Under the hood, there will also be differences in the specs and features. The base model is expected to come out with a Snapdragon 820 processor, paired with 4 GB of RAM. The premium version, on the other hand, is a more powerful version of the lineup. It is rumored to feature a step-up Snapdragon 821 chipset, along with 6 GB of RAM.

Meanwhile, although Xiaomi has yet to come out with specific details on the new flagship, rumors suggest that the leaks spell out an imminent launch for the new flagship. Rumor has it that the China-based tech maker plans to unveil the Mi Note 2 flagship at a press event on September 24.

There are also rumors that Xiaomi will be rebranding the new flagship, though reports remain sketchy. According to GizmoChina, a supposed teaser has floated on Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo, saying that instead of a Mi Note 2, fans should expect the Mi Pro. However, the teaser is an unofficial one. Should Xiaomi rebrand its next flagship, a "Mi Pro" tag seems possible, given that the company already has other Pro iterations in its lineup, such as the Redmi Pro series. A Mi Pro counterpart for its flagship series is likely.
