It is expected that Xiaomi is planning to launch a new flagship soon. Speculations suggest, however, that instead of the expected Mi Note 2, Xiaomi will be rebranding its new flagship as the Mi Pro.

According to GizmoChina, a supposed teaser has floated on China-based website Weibo, hinting that Xiaomi will be launching a "Mi Pro" soon. Reportedly, this may hint that Xiaomi will be rebranding its supposed Mi Note 2 flagship which is scheduled to launch soon. The industry follower said that, though there is no confirmation on the rumor yet, having a Mi Pro for the Xiaomi flagship lineup is quite possible. The tech maker already has a Pro iteration in its Redmi series, and the company may be thinking of adding a Pro version counterpart for its flagship Mi lineup.

Meanwhile, while it is unclear what Xiaomi plans to name its next flagship launch, supposed leaks on the specs and features for the next smartphone release spell out a top-tier device. Speculations suggest that the new Xiaomi flagship will launch in two versions, with the base model featuring 4 GB of RAM, while the more premium version will carry 6 GB of RAM. Although it remains to be seen, it is said that the new flagship will launch with a Snapdragon 810 processor for the base model, as well as a regular 5.7-inch display. The more premium, 6-GB RAM version is said to feature the step-up Snapdragon 821 processor, and its 5.7-inch display may also feature a 3D Touch-like option. Both versions are expected to launch with the Android 7.0 Nougat layered with Xiaomi's MiUI platform.

With regards to the new flagship devices' release date, it is said that their debut can occur anytime soon. Recent theories suggest that the new Xiaomi flagships will launch this week, although more conservative estimates place a late September debut.
