Xiaomi has just released a new flagship, the Mi 5s. However, since previous reports pegged at least two flagship lineups, fans are wondering when will the other series iteration — the Mi Note 2 — land in stores.

With supposed leaks on its specs and features already out, it is expected that Xiaomi will release the Mi Note 2 later this year. Having a new launch around this time is highly unlikely, as the tech maker has released the Mi 5s lineup just this week. If this was the case, the two flagships will have release dates that are quite close to each other, and this would likely cause the two lineups to compete with each other on the market.

According to speculations, Xiaomi will be positioning the upcoming flagship as a holiday buy, given its powerful specs. The new flagship may launch as early as next month, with the global release scheduled with a November timeframe.

While Xiaomi has yet to confirm the features and specs of the new flagship, it is already expected that the Mi Note 2 will be one of the flagships to beat this year. According to TechRadar, the Mi Note 2 is looking to be one of the most impressive smartphones, with its reported Snapdragon 821 chipset and at least 6 GB of RAM. In addition, the specs of the Mi Note 2 that were reportedly leaked are just for its base version. Rumor has it that Xiaomi will be releasing a top-tier variant for the lineup, a "Pro" version with the same chipset, albeit with a massive 8-GB RAM and up to 256 GB of onboard storage. The new flagship also has upgraded features and design. Supposed leaked images out of China have shown that the new iteration will have a dual-curved display, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S7 series and the Galaxy Note 7.
