Xiaomi Mi MIX Nano release date, specs rumors: Smaller 5.5-inch Mi MIX believed to launch soon

Supposedly, Xiaomi will have another flagship release before the year ends. This time, the new iteration is a smaller version of the company's concept phone, the Xiaomi Mi MIX.

According to GizChina, supposed real-life images of a 5.5-inch Mi MIX have appeared online. Since the original concept phone has been launched with a massive 6.4-inch screen, the supposed leaks point out a new handset iteration.

This means that the Mi MIX in the images will expand the concept phone into a full lineup. Phone Arena agrees and states that as per reports out of China, the upcoming addition will be dubbed as the Mi MIX Nano.

In addition, supposed images of the About and Settings tabs for the upcoming phone are among the leaks. According to the list, the Mi MIX Nano is not a watered-down version of the concept phone, but rather a smaller version of the Mi MIX. Should the specs and features list turn out to be true, this means that aside from the display and dimensions, the Mi MIX Nano will have similar components with its larger counterpart.

The Mi MIX concept phone launched with a Snapdragon 821 chipset under the hood, paired with either 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of onboard storage, or a step-up variant with 6 GB of RAM and 256 GB of onboard storage. The supposed images list 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of memory for the Mi MIX Nano, and it is yet to be seen if there will also be a step-up variant for the smaller iteration.

Meanwhile, even if the display has smaller dimensions, the leaked images focus on a near bezel-less design of the screen, a signature of the original 6.4-inch display on the Mi MIX. Should the design remain similar, fans may also expect a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio for the 5.5-inch display on the Mi MIX Nano.

Xiaomi has yet to come out with confirmed details for the new addition. However, with the supposed images focusing on what could be prototypes of the device, it is said that the Mi MIX Nano may make it as a late 2016 release.
