Xiaomi Mi Max: Mi phablet to come out soon?

If the teasers and rumors will be proven true, a plus-sized version of the Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship may come out soon.

According to Android Central, a teaser from Xiaomi has pointed what appears to be the rumored Mi Max phablet. In the image teaser, the front panel of a Xiaomi flagship is fitted inside a jeans pocket. However, as the Mi Max has a reported display size of at least 6.4 inches, the rumored phablet can also be seen as barely able to fit the front pockets.

Meanwhile, the industry follower said that a confirmed specs sheet is still unavailable. However, since it can be expected that the Mi Max will be a flagship device, it may carry a top-tier Snapdragon 820 processor. Essentially, the new Mi Max phablet is a plus-sized version of Xiaomi's current flagship, the Mi 5.

However, there are also rumors that the Mi Max phablet may also come out as a full lineup, since aside from the Snapdragon 820 SoC, rumors also place the device to carry a Snapdragon 650 chipset, as well as Xiaomi's homegrown Rift processor. According to Phone Arena, since Xiaomi may likely place the Mi Note 2 as its premier flagship device this year, a mid-range specs sheet for the Mi Max is highly plausible. This means that there may be 2 GB of RAM for the device, at the minimum.

CNET says that if the Mi Max eventually comes out, it will replace the Mi Note Pro as the largest phone iteration for the company. The Mi Note Pro has a 5.7-inch display, which will make it significantly smaller than the reported 6.4-inch one on the Mi Max.

The Mi Max can also be expected as the flagship to bridge the smartphone and tablet lineups of Xiaomi. The company's current slate flagship, the Mi Pad 2, has a 7.9-inch screen.
