Microsoft is coming out with new upgrades for its console lineup. However, it is said that although major tweaks and improvements are rumored for the Xbox One S and the Project Scorpio, fans should still bear in mind that these are only minor updates and will only serve as in-between upgrades before the Xbox Two arrives.

Some industry followers have noted that although Microsoft has already mentioned cutting-edge features and specs for the upcoming consoles, they are still a far cry from being next-gen consoles. While it is true that they will have significant tweaks over the current-gen Xbox One setup, Microsoft is still not readying a "true" follow-up. The tech giant has already given hints on this, even dubbing the next-gen console Project Scorpio, not Xbox Two.

The Xbox One S is already confirmed as a slimmer though still upgraded version of the current Microsoft console. It is at least 40 percent thinner and slimmer than Xbox One, although it contains updated specs under the hood. One noted change for the new Xbox One S is that it will deliver power right inside its box, since there is no need for external power brick. Meanwhile, the performance levels have also gotten an upgrade. Although the CPU and GPU remain the same, the new Slim version has up to 2 TB of storage and allows 4K Ultra HD support.

However, when Microsoft revealed the Xbox One S at the E3 2016, the company also confirmed that another Xbox console is on its way, possibly as early as next year. The so-called Project Scorpio boasts of impressive specs – VR support, as much as 6 teraflops of performance speed, and 4K graphics. The new console is also expected to get improved upgrades on its features and specs.
