Xbox One backwards compatibility games roster: 'Dark Souls' to be added

Microsoft continues to add more classic titles to its backwards compatibility program, and some fans have speculated that triple-A titles will be added soon. Previous rumors have mentioned "Dark Souls" to be among these top-tier titles, and fans may get their wishes granted soon.

According to Polygon, Microsoft has just confirmed the rumors, announcing that players will finally be able to experience "Dark Souls" on the Xbox One through the backwards compatibility program.

In addition, the triple-A classic as an Xbox One title will be available soon, as it is revealed that the current gen-compatible version of 'Dark Souls" will come as a pre-order bonus for the Deluxe Edition of "Dark Souls III." In the description, the classic Xbox 360 game will have its Xbox One-playable "...for 'Dark Souls' will be delivered to your Xbox message center in 7-10 days."

It is unclear if the Xbox One-compatible version of "Dark Souls" will be playable at once if the code is redeemed, or if the backwards-compatible game will be unlocked together with the release of "Dark Souls III," which will launch for the Xbox One, as well as for the PlayStation 4 and PC, on April 12.

"Dark Souls" as an Xbox One-compatible title has been rumored previously, together with classic triple-A titles such as "Red Dead Redemption" and games from the "Call of Duty" franchise. The speculations on "Dark Souls" making it on the Xbox One intensified when the Australian Xbox Store reportedly leaked the information.

Meanwhile, aside from a "Dark Souls" version for the Xbox One, the upcoming "Dark Souls III" also has a number of other bonus items for the waiting fans. According to GameSpot, it has been confirmed that the upcoming game will have extended expansion content, as the DLC Season Pass becomes available for pre-order, with a price tag of $24.99.
