Xbox Live Games with Gold April predictions: Microsoft teases 'blockbuster' game list for next month

While the game list for an upcoming month in Microsoft's Xbox Live Games with Gold usually drops toward the end of the current month, the company has already teased its April offerings under the program.

In a tweet from Microsoft, the company called the game list for next month "April blockbusters." The company made the announcement as it marked the changing of this month's Games with Gold titles, with "Borderlands" assuming its place on the March list and staying there until the end of the month. In addition, "Lords of the Fallen" and "Supreme Commander" are now available for download for Xbox Live members.

While it only serves as a teaser for the April 2016 lineup, observers can't help but read between the lines. According to Attack of the Fanboy, this may mean that Microsoft is readying a number of triple-A titles for next month's list. This means that both Xbox 360 and Xbox One players will get blockbuster releases for free.

The industry observer said that it's about time for Microsoft to offer top-tier games for free to its Xbox Live members. Its competitor, Sony's PlayStation Plus, is known to give away a free triple-A title or two each month.

Meanwhile, should Microsoft list at least one triple-A title per console, the Xbox One will still get all April titles next month as part of the continuing backwards compatibility program for the current-gen console.

Although the title may not be included on the April 2016 list, Xbox One players who have purchased "Dark Souls III," which will roll out next month, will definitely get an additional triple-A title next month. The original "Dark Souls" game will be playable on the console as a pre-order bonus for players.
