One of the oldest and yet still alive massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), "World of Warcraft" (WoW) is releasing yet again another new expansion soon. To players of the game, the news does not come as surprising but this new expansion may make a big change to the game putting emphasis on the character's class.

Preorders for the seventh expansion of "WoW," Battle of Azeroth, has just gone live last week. Accompanying it was a question-and-answer portion with the developers of the game. Of course, it talked about the usual changes that they would make with every new expansion but the emphasis on character class was one that surprised many with others having expected it already.

"Take (or Bring) the player, not the class" is one of the oldest sayings in the game. This would easily be interpreted as the game giving less importance to classes which may seemingly be the case in the current "WoW." "Bring the player, not the class is one of the most misinterpreted phrases over time," mentions Josh Allen, community manager of Blizzard.

"I remember when [former WoW lead systems designer] Ghostcrawler posted blogs about this in early Wrath [of the Lich King] days," says Allen reminding people. In those blogs, which also discussed by game director, Ion Hazzikostas, it made sure to explain the old saying.

Hazzikostas mentioned that they wanted groups to have a lot more diversity and wanted to emphasize the skill of the player with that class, and not just the class itself nor the player alone. "The most successful groups, the most successful Mythic raids; these should have people with as many different tools as possible."

Battle for Azeroth will be coming out on Sept. 21, 2018. Preorders for digital deluxe edition will also grant players several bonuses.
