"Wolfenstein II," like its distant cousin "Doom," will also be coming to the Nintendo Switch. This much has been confirmed after a developer has taken charge of porting the AAA game to the handheld console.

Developers Tommy Tordsson Bjork and Andreas Öjerfors of Machine Games have recently revealed at Fun & Serious Game Festival in Bilbao that "Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus" will be getting a Switch version thanks to Panic Button, the development studio that they are working with. "It's the same as the Doom studio," says Bjork, while Öjerfors has affirmed that it is also the same people.

Öjerfors has also added, "They're experts at the Switch an now they're experts with the [id Tech 6] engine so we work with them, and the Doom version turned out to be really kick-ass on the Switch so I think Wolfenstein will be the same. It's going to be as good." This means that fans can expect the quality of "Wolfenstein II's" Switch port to be pretty much on par with "Doom's" Switch port.

Those who fear that Panic Button might be having a harder time with "Wolfenstein II" since it's a newer game need not worry as the development studio has a reputation for being able the squeeze the Switch hardware of its performance. "Doom" is apparently a testament to what the developer can do, and "Wolfenstein II" will be no exception.

Meanwhile, players who are optimistic about a virtual reality (VR) adaptation of the game are going to be disappointed as Öjerfors has confirmed that the main development studio has no plans on making "Wolfenstein II" VR-ready. They are, however, not dismissing the possibility and would also like the opportunity to experiment with more advanced platforms of gaming, though perhaps not with "Wolfenstein II."

At the moment, there are no announced or expected release dates yet for the Switch version of "Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus," but Switch owners are advised to stay tuned.
