God is so good to us that He promises to meet our every need. He supplies us with the desire to do good and the corresponding strength to do that good thing that we so want to do. He also provides for us the nutrition that we need to keep doing meaningful and enjoyable things in life. He is so good, He enables us to enjoy doing His will, and rewards us when we do. Isn't that so good?
God's goodness doesn't end when we get weary or in trouble. In fact, His goodness is even more evident when we become tempted to quit or when we are stuck in a rut. God is a very good God – He's got you covered.
When we're weary
Have you ever felt weary after a long, tiring stretch of doing good things? We all do. Even when what we do makes our hearts jump with joy and our lives full of meaning, we will all face some amount of weariness. After all, we're only humans, limited in all areas. When we're weary, especially when we face all sorts of opposition to all the God-glorifying things we do, we can count on Jesus to help us.
The Lord Jesus said that we can all come to Him when we are weary and tired. He said, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light" (Matthew 11:28-30).
Come to Him when you're weary. He'll recharge you.
When we're in need of help
When we're in dire need of help, Psalm 46:1 quickly encourages us with a very strong reminder of who God is. It simply says "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."
Because we are God's children, and because Christ lives forever and is continually interceding for us, we can come and approach God for help, anytime we need it. Hebrews 4:14-16 encourages us,
"Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathise with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need."
Come home
Come home to Daddy God. No matter how weary or troubled you are, He's able to take on any challenge. And because He's for you and He loves you, He'll take it on for your good.
