What song made Carrie Underwood cry? Clue: It was sung by her husband Mike

Who knew that Carrie Underwood was such a softie? The Christian country singer revealed that a song sung by her husband Mike Fisher last weekend made her cry—and for all the right reasons.

On her Twitter page (@carrieunderwood), the singer wrote, "The hubby just played this for me. I cried. Beautiful song @PATGREENMUSIC."

Underwood was referring to Pat Green's new song "While I Was Away," which speaks about a father's love for one's child. The songstress understands that sometimes her professional hockey player husband gets sad that he has to be away from home and his family for weeks on end because of work, so the song's lyrics really struck a chord with her.

"And every day I'm on the go I'm prayin' that you know that your daddy cares/ 'Cause the hardest part about workin' hard ain't the bills I gotta pay/ It's you growin' up while I was away," the song lyrics read.

When Green read Underwood's tweet, he was very touched by her kind words and tweeted back, "Whoa! @carrieunderwood likes my song! #DayMade Means a lot, coming from the best female voice in country music."

Green described "While I Was Away" as an "honest" song because it deals with the emotions working fathers have to deal with just to provide for their children. "When you come home, you're excited to see your kids. It feels like they grow and change every single day. Even the way they look at you," Green told CMT. "The song really gets straight to the marrow of that."

He still cannot believe that he has a fan in Underwood, and he feels grateful for the positive response she gave to his song."Obviously, I don't have the words to thank her for saying such kind words. She's heard a thousand songs, I'm sure, so she knows what a good one sounds like. It wasn't hype. It's not like I texted her — not like I even have her number — and asked her to tweet. She did it completely on her own," he said.
