Several rumors suggest that season 5 of "Wentworth" will be putting into spotlight Joan "The Freak" Ferguson (Pamela Rabe), in connection to the demise of Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack). There is no exact date yet when the Australian drama series returns, but it will be sometime in 2017.

Last season, the last episode ended with the demise of fan-favorite Smith. She was stabbed to death by Ferguson. This was not fans what were expecting. They were even expecting that a miracle would bring her back similar to what happened to Allie (Kate Jenkinson). The show's producer even confirmed that Smith would not be back to the Foxtel program, and so was Cormack, news.com.au reported.

Jo Porter, "Wentworth's" executive producer, went on to say, "It is always an incredibly difficult decision to say farewell to a much-loved and revered character like Bea Smith. Which is why this storyline has had such a huge impact on us all and we are sure fans will feel the same. This decision was particularly hard as it meant also saying goodbye to Danielle Cormack."

Now, fans who have moved on from the shocking turn of events are now speculating on who will be replacing Smith. Some are saying that it will be Ferguson, who has shown to the world her capabilities, excellent planning and seamless execution. However, many fans are also having enough of her. She has already taken care of many things, Yibada stated.

The Bitbag added that it might also be Kaz Proctor (Tammy Hamilton), although the fans may not like it because of her revenge plan not going the way it should be, as well her small association with the "The Freak."
