'Watch Dogs 2' release date: new story and setting when game launches November 15

Ubisoft is expected to showcase major announcements at the upcoming E3 2016 this coming week. However, the studio opted to surprise fans early, dropping major info on its next project, "Watch Dogs 2."

In a livestream update, Ubisoft Montreal revealed that the new sequel will feature an entirely new cast and setting, and fans can looks forward to its release on Nov. 15. "Watch Dogs 2" will showcase the story of Marcus Holloway and his journey as a hacker in San Francisco. According to Gamespot, while the premise of the new story is similar to the original, 2014 release, "Watch Dogs 2" director Danny Bélanger stated that the sequel focuses more on team play, since the game highlights Holloway and his team in the new hacking group DedSec. This team effort is very different fom the lone wolf story of Aiden Pierce in the first "Watch Dogs."

In addition, the two protagonists are very different from each other, notes creative director Jonathan Morin.

"Marcus is much more expressive, both in his behavior and in his fighting style," the director added. "He's going to feel completely different than Aiden. There's a different flow to his approach."

Meanwhile, the livestream also touched on how "Watch Dogs 2" will be based on a more recent environment, and this is seen with the new gadgets that Holloway and his team as access to such as drones and quadcopters. However, the new game still retains the same "fully hackable environment" that is introduced in the first "Watch Dogs" title.

Writing on the US PlayStation Blog, Ubisoft community developer Chase Straight stressed that fans will find "Watch Dogs 2" to their liking, seeing as the game has been built up based on fan feedback. The executive stated, "The team took special care to make sure the biggest points of feedback were addressed in 'Watch Dogs 2,' and we hope you enjoy what we've cooked up for you."

"Watch Dogs 2" is slated to be released on Nov. 15 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
