Tyson Fury rumors 2015: Fury issues apology for actions at SPOTY awards

Tyson Fury placed himself in a lot of heat recently, stemming from his controversial comments about abortion, homosexuality, and women.

Fury was one of 12 candidates for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards but there were about 140,000 people who signed a petition for the Manchester boxer to be removed from the list after making derogatory remarks about women and gay people.

During the ceremony which eventually saw tennis player Andy Murray cop the SPOTY award, the SSE Arena let out a thundering "boo" when Fury's name was called as one of the candidates.

Based on the tallies, Fury still finished fourth in voting behind Kevin Sinfield and Jessica Ennis-Hill who finished second and third, respectively, according to Reuters.

Fury would eventually speak at the event, issuing an apology for his comments and explaining that it was never his intention to hurt anyone with his remarks.

He goes on to explain that everything was tongue in cheek and all for fun and games. He admits not being a serious type of a person and is a happy go lucky type of a guy per BBC.

This wasn't the first time that Fury admits that he is that kind of jolly person, stating practically the same thing after defeating Wladimir Klitschko.

Prior to their fight late last month, Fury explained as well during the time that it was all simply for fun and games.

He admitted having gone a bit wacko leading to his fight with Klitschko and later on paid tribute to the 39-year-old Ukrainian boxer via the New York Times.

Among the crazy things that Fury did included dressing up as "Batman" and calling Klitschko a joker which he says was all done out of fun.

But he, apparently, overdid it with his tactless remarks after being crowned champion and such dragged him in a bad light.

Right now, it remains if all will be forgiven, although it may take some time before this issue dies down completely.
