'Transformers 5' update: Hasbro debuts first logo for new movie

As Akiva Goldsman and his team of writers work on the upcoming "Transformers" movie, Hasbro's CEO Brian Goldner and CFO Deborah Thomas gave some updates about upcoming product lines, talked about the film franchise and debuted a logo for the fifth film at Hasbro's annual Investor Day.

According to TFW2005, Goldner said that the "Transformers" movies will continue on, and the CEO also revealed the "Transformers 5" placeholder logo. While it is unclear whether the logo revealed at the event will be the image that will be featured on posters and other promo materials for the upcoming film, Comicbook.com reports that the "Transformers: Age of Extinction" placeholder logo ended up looking quite similar to the official version, so the logo for the fifth installment of the film will most likely end up looking like the one posted on the website.

There has been much excitement over the upcoming film, as Goldsman's team is made up of an impressive lineup that includes Ken Nolan ("Black Hawk Down"), Robert Kirkman ("The Walking Dead"), Art Marcum and Matt Holloway ("Iron Man), Jeff Pinkner ("Fringe"), Steven DeKnight ("Daredevil") among others.

Though there has been no official synopsis released for the upcoming film, Mark Ryan, who voiced Jetfire in "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and Lockdown in "Transformers: Age of Extinction," gave an update about the storyline during the "Wings and Wheels" convention in the United Kingdom.

According to Movieweb, Ryan said that the writers have been working on two very different storylines. The first storyline will follow Cade Yaeger (Mark Wahlberg) as he and the Dinobauts team up to save the world from a looming threat.

The second storyline is said to feature Optimus Prime heading into space to find the creators of his race called the Quintessons. His search will eventually lead him to come face to face with a giant transformer known as Unicron. The website says that Ryan was unable to confirm which of these storylines was being favored in the writers' room.

The actor claims that the film will start production early next year and that "Transformers 5" will be released in 2017.
