'Titanfall 2' release date, news: game's December update remastered multiplayer map

Developer Respawn Entertainment details more features prior to the late-month release of "Titanfall 2." The most recent reveal showcases at least one free map for the multiplayer mode.

According to the announcement on the game's official website, "Titanfall 2" will receive a free map for multiplayer gamers in December as an in-game bonus. In addition, it is revealed that instead of a new location, the free map is a remastered version of a classic area from the original "Titanfall" title. The remastered map, "Angel City," is one of the fan-favorite areas in the original game.

Confirming the free expansion, Drew McCoy, producer for "Titanfall 2," stated: "Fully remastered, Angel City is a map that is near and dear to many of us here at Respawn, and has proven to be a fan favorite since players first got their hands on it in the original Titanfall. We can't wait to see how the community uses all the exciting new Pilot and Titan gameplay mechanics we're bringing to Titanfall 2 on Angel City."

Aside from naming one item for its post-launch content, the blog post also reiterates that all expansion for "Titanfall 2" will be free for all players.

Meanwhile, the studio executive also reiterates that even as part of the post-launch content, the free "Angel City" map will also be unlocked as an early access bonus for hardcore fans of the franchise. The studio executive adds, "Everybody that owns Titanfall 2 will get Angel City for free, but for those that want a three day head start can get it by pre-ordering Titanfall 2 – any edition, any retailer." The early game access also includes other expansion like Nitro Scorch pack.

In addition to the free map, Respawn Entertainment also reveals that there will be last-minute changes to the game, particularly to the "Titanfall 2 Digital Deluxe Edition" copies. However, the studio has confirmed that the modifications are only "cosmetic," without any effects on the overall gameplay.

"Titanfall 2" launches on Oct. 28 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
