Three dead after cabin cruiser capsizes

LONDON - Three people have died after a cabin cruiser capsized in rough seas near Whitby in northeast England, a police spokesman said on Saturday.

Two men and a woman were recovered from the water by a lifeboat and a helicopter rescue team after the cruiser capsized soon after leaving Whitby Harbour on Friday.

But one of the men and the woman died soon after being rescued and the second man died after several hours in hospital.

"Witnesses have commented on the brave actions of the lifeboat crew and the rescue helicopter," a North Yorkshire police spokesman said.
