Electronic Arts has just soft-launched "The Sims Mobile," and it will soon be available for users of both Android and iOS devices.

According to the official website of the game, players will be able to create in-game families across multiple generations, which recalls the "Legacy Challenge" seen on "The Sims 4." Once Sims are able to reach their career goals, retiring them will allow gamers to unlock Heirlooms, which will reveal story paths, including careers and hobbies, for the next generations of Sims.

As with previous "The Sims" titles, players will be able to customize just about every aspect of the game, from the sex and features of the characters to the decorations of their homes. Players can also let their Sims build relationships with other in-game characters — or with the Sims of their real-life friends — to earn rewards.

The trailer seems to indicate that the game will support a multiplayer mode, as the video shows multiple Sims gathered together in a virtual party. However, it is unclear yet how that will play out in the game.

This will not be the first time that "The Sims" will be released online. "The Sims Freeplay" was released in 2011. However, it was not well received by fans, owing to the fact that players would need to purchase many of the in-game items. "The Sims Social" was also released on Facebook, which did not become a hit either because of the fact that players were only able to create and stick to one character, unlike other "The Sims" titles in which they can control an entire family. Both apps were eventually shut down in 2013, according to GSM Arena.

"The Sims Mobile" will be free to play. According to Independent, the game has already launched in Brazil. However, there is no word yet when "The Sims Mobile" will be rolled out across the globe.
