With the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics the summer's looking pretty full, but if you've got space for one more thing in your diary you may want to head to the undulating Surrey hills for this year's The Life of Christ.
The five-hour, open air play has taken place each summer for the last 13 years on the Wintershall estate.
The story of Jesus, from the Angel’s Annunciation to Mary to the Ascension on the banks of the sea of Galilee, is told across 38 separate scenes.
The natural pastures, lakes and hills of the Wintershall estate are used to recreate the Holy Land, while a cast of 200 in biblical costumes and accompanied by donkeys, sheep and lambs all help to bring the story to life.
Writer and producer Peter Hutley explains: "I strive to make settings, drama and message as realistic as possible in every scene so that the audience can smell the camels and horses, see the dust and beauty of the costumes and walk along with Jesus.”
The Life of Christ is directed by the West End theatre director and chairman of the Guildford School of Acting, Ashley Herman.
