'The Legend of Zelda' Wii U release date: Wii U version taking center stage at E3 2016

The Legend of Zelda Wii U Nintendo

Nintendo has already revealed that it will have its own showcase at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo, happening later this month. However, although the company has other games listed in its lineup, it will highlight the long-awaited Wii U version of "The Legend of Zelda" franchise.

The publisher has said that it is focusing solely on "The Legend of Zelda" for the Wii U, even naming its showcase at the event the "Treehouse Event." Meanwhile, as a presentation focus, the next "The Legend of Zelda" game will occupy at least two days of Nintendo appearance at the E3.

The event is scheduled to kick off on June 14 at 9 a.m. PST, with the Wii U version of the new "The Legend of Zelda" taking center stage. Meanwhile, although the game is also confirmed to be coming to the upcoming Nintendo NX system, the company will focus only on the Wii U version, since it is expected that Nintendo is still keeping details of the mysterious NX under wraps. The first day of the event will also have fans see a showcase of "Pokémon Sun and Moon."

Meanwhile, the following day will also reportedly showcase a gameplay demo of the "Zelda" game, along with a developer Q&A for "Pokémon GO." In addition, Day Two of Nintendo's "Treehouse Event" will also let fans see other upcoming Nintendo projects like "Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past" and "Monster Hunter Generations."

Meanwhile, although Nintendo has already confirmed its presentation lineup, fans still expect a surprise or two on the upcoming "The Legend of Zelda" title. According to Design & Trend, it is expected that Nintendo will finally confirm a release date for the game – fans are saying that a late 2016 release is possible – as well as the final title for the game.
