Nintendo has yet to come out with specific release details for the upcoming "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" game. However, speculations suggest that the game may make it as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch in March.

According to Gamespot, game retailer Gamestop has hinted that the upcoming "The Legend of Zelda" installment will make it as an early 2017 release, and may even be one of the launching games for the upcoming Nintendo gaming console, the Switch. Supposedly, the game retailer hinted on this development in its latest earnings report. In a presentation document, the industry follower has listed "Breath of the Wild" under the first quarter calendar for next year, which means that the new game will release between January and March. Since the Nintendo Switch is already confirmed to be coming out in March, it is likely that "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" will also be a co-release. Additional hints like the supposed release date for the game's Amiibo characters also pointed out a March release period for the title.

It is already revealed that the game is coming out next year, since Nintendo itself has confirmed previously that the title will come out some time in 2017.

However, the new supposed leak ran counter with previous rumors, saying that "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" will not be a launching game for the Nintendo Switch. In fact, speculations suggest that the title may come out later next year, in June at the earliest. According to IGN, a noted retailer has already listed a June release for the upcoming game. This is unlikely a date placeholder, since most industry followers place a December placeholder if they are unsure of the target release date for a game.

"The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" marks the return of the franchise. Aside from the Nintendo Switch, it is also confirmed that the game will come out for the Wii-U.
