Amy's (Mayim Bialik) relationship with Sheldon (Jim Parsons) may be in jeopardy in the season finale of "The Big Bang Theory," as her departure for Princeton University will provide an opportunity for Ramona Nowitzki (Riki Lindhome) to play.

In an interview with TVLine, "The Big Bang Theory" showrunner Steve Molaro said, "Ramona is looking to take advantage of Sheldon and he is innocently blind to it. But all of his friends are acutely aware of what's going on."

He also teased that Amy will find out about Ramona's intent, leading her to seek help from Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) to keep an eye out on Sheldon. He said, "She tells [Penny and Bernadette] to stay on top of things on her behalf while she's 3,000 miles away."

He also said that the "The Big Bang Theory" ladies are now just as close to each other as their male counterparts and partners. "They give each other a hard time and they have fights, but they really do have each others' backs," he said.

Given Sheldon's personality and general obliviousness about the things going around him, it is unlikely that he will deliberately cheat on Amy. However, there may be something more that will be revealed in the story, as Molaro teased fans by saying that the writers of "The Big Bang Theory" like to "write stories that make us nervous."

According to TV Insider, Ramona was first seen on the show on "The Cooper-Nowitzki Theorem," the sixth episode of the show's second season, where she flirted with Sheldon. The upcoming episode will show that she already achieved her doctorate, but she still is attracted to Amy's boyfriend. Sheldon, on the other hand, sees her as nothing more than a colleague, not understanding that she has her sights set on him.

The season finale of "The Big Bang Theory" will air on May 11, Thursday, at 8 p.m. on CBS.
