'Big Bang Theory' season 9 spoilers: Amy and Sheldon reunite in episode 10 'The Earworm Reverberation'

Sheldon and Amy in 'The Big Bang Theory' season 9 CBS

Since Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) separated during the season 8 finale, fans have been eagerly waiting for them to get back together. According to a report from the IB Times, season 9 episode 10, titled "The Earworm Reverberation," will finally put the two back together.

In the previous episode, Sheldon and Amy went on as friends but on their way home Amy attempted to put their relationship as a couple back together only for Sheldon to refuse. However, in episode 10, a song by the Beach Boys will convince Sheldon to re-think his decision and he will want to get back with Amy.

According to a report from the Master Herald, Amy will attempt to stop Sheldon from completing his proposal by kissing her new date but apparently it won't work. Sheldon will end up telling her that she is like an "earworm in his heart."

Sheldon will also be helped and motivated by a friend who has already passed away. The report states that guest actor Bob Newhart will reprise his role as Dr. Arthur Jeffries aka Professor Proton. It is likely he will appear as a "Force Ghost" akin to his previous appearance in the show.

This reunion will eventually lead up to the events in episode 11, which is reportedly when Sheldon and Amy will finally get more intimate and will have sex. A previous report speculated whether or not they were going to have sex merely as friends or as lovers and episode 10's plot points to the former.

Separating Sheldon and Amy may have postponed their eventual wedding but it is not speculated by fans that season 9 may in fact end with the two tying the knot, putting Sheldon's engagement ring to use after he failed to propose to her during the season 8 finale.

"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 episode 10 will air on Dec. 10 while the highly anticipated "intimate" episode will air a week later on Dec. 17.
