Bandai Namco Entertainment announced that the Tekken World Tour will return this 2018. Moreover, the much-awaited event will kick off at Final Round in Atlanta, Georgia on March 16.

The Tekken World Tour will return with 40 worldwide tournaments held both offline and online. The event will take place in other North American stops including California, Texas, Illinois, Florida and Pennsylvania for the United States and Toronto for Canada. There will also be international stops for this year's event which include Thailand, Hong Kong, Kuwait, South Korea, Italy, Australia, Peru and the United Kingdom. The World Tour will last for eight months, with the final event, the 2018 Tekken World Championship global finals taking place in November in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Bandai Namco will be introducing one global leaderboard — a major change from the three regional leaderboards the tour was known for. There will also be a different point structure for this year's tour as events will be divided into Challenger and Master events. The top 16 will be awarded for finishing the Challenger events while the top 32 will be awarded for the Master events. Bandai Namco will also be introducing a Last Chance Qualifier tournament which will give the last chance for players who failed to make it their way into the global finals to get in.

Last year, South Korean Tekken player Byung-moon "Qudans" Son was crowned the winner of the 2017 Tekken World Tour which wrapped up in San Francisco. He won $50,000. He finished ahead of the South Korean favorite, Hyun-jun "JDCR" Kim, who had previously won the 2017 EVO tournament.
