Tekken 7 release date for PS4 only, not Xbox One: Will it be available for Xbox 360, PS3?

Bandai Namco Games confirmed that it will be releasing the ninth installment of the highly-popular Tekken game series. Officially announced at the 2014 EVO fighting game tournament in Las Vegas last July, Tekken 7 will be available for Playstation 4. The company also announced that the game is powered with the Unreal Engine 4, so it's not unlikely that it will eventually be available in other platforms.

"With Unreal Engine 4, we could rapidly achieve visual quality expected on next-gen platform and go beyond it," Katushiro Harada, the game's director and chief producer, said. "Not only is Unreal Engine 4 powerful and easy to use, but it allows us to immediately bring Tekken 7 to any platform we desire."

While that sounds encouraging for many Tekken fans who also want to try the game on a different platform, they should not get their hopes up – not yet anyway. When asked on Twitter whether the game will be available for Xbox 360 and PS3, Harada simply replied, "No information now."

Tekken 7 is the conclusion of the Mishima Saga. According to a report by Siliconera, the game will unravel a lot of mysteries that surround the game series, such as why the character Heihachi Mishima killed his wife, Kazumi; why he threw his son, Kazuya, into a pit; who Devil Jin is and why Heihachi killed him; and other unanswered questions.

Like other Tekken games, Tekken 7 will be one-on-one, and not team-based.
