Teenage girl held after Cornwall beach death

A 16-year-old girl was arrested in connection with the death of a man found on a beach in Cornwall suffering from head injuries, police said on Sunday.

The man, believed to be in his late 20s, was found on Par Beach near St Austell on Saturday evening and died later in hospital.

A 20-year-old man was also being held, police said.

"We want to talk to anyone who may have seen a violent altercation near a bench between the beach and the holiday village sometime before 9.30 p.m. on Saturday night," said the senior investigating officer, Detective Superintendent Steve Carey.
