DC Comics has been dominating TV screens worldwide, with "Arrow," "The Flash," and "Supergirl" winning in the ratings game as viewers tuned in to see the heroes fight off different villains with each episode.
In a few weeks, "Supergirl" will be returning with a brand new episode fresh from its short hiatus, and it has been reported that Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) will be facing off with a major villain when the show returns to CBS.
Speaking with Kevin Smith on his "Fat Man on Batman" podcast, executive producer and writer Andrew Kreisberg said that the Toyman is coming up, as well as Bizarro.
In the DC comic books, Bizarro is the doppelganger of Superman who, according to Superman Wikia, is described as having a twisted sense of logic, which manifests as the opposite of anything the hero would do or say. Bizarro has a pale, grayish complexion and a misshapen face, and his original costume has a reverse letter "S." He also has the opposite of Superman's powers, such as freeze vision rather than heat vision. The use of blue kryptonite is the only way that he can be defeated.
On TV, the character was last seen in the season 6 finale of "Smallville." In the episode, the creature bonded with Clark Kent's (Tom Welling) DNA and became an exact duplicate of the hero and began to live Clark's life in Smallville while the real hero was trapped in the Fortress. Superman was able to beat Bizarro in the season 7 premiere when he punched the doppelganger toward the sun, and Martian Manhunter caught him and flew him to Mars, stranding him there.
Cinemablend reports that "Supergirl" may not have a male Bizarro, and it's possible that the show will introduce Bizarro-Girl, who made her debut in the New 52 Supergirl comic book. When the show returns, it's possible that Benoist will play dual roles as Kara and her doppelganger, just like Welling did in "Smallville."
"Supergirl" returns on Jan. 4 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
