"Psych" alum Dulé Hill will be joining the cast of "Suits" for its seventh season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor will play Alex Williams, a senior partner at Bratton Gould, a rival law firm of Pearson Specter Litt. His character is also a long-time friend of Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht). This project marks his return to USA Network, which was also the home of "Psych," which ran for eight seasons. The actor has since expressed his excitement for the role via a post on Twitter.

Prior to being cast in "Suits" and "Psych," Hill also had roles in "The West Wing," "Doubt," and "Ballers." He also appeared in "Sleight," a film by J.D. Dillard.

According to "Suits" showrunner Aaron Kosh in his interview with The Hollywood Reporter, season 7 of "Suits" will essentially serve as a clean slate for the characters. This is especially applicable to Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), who will finally be a full-fledged lawyer, following the events of season 6, in which he went to jail for fraud. He will return to Pearson Specter Litt not just as an attorney but also a full-fledged partner of the firm, thanks to Harvey. The new season will also feature how Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman) will handle Harvey taking over after Jessica Pearson's (Gina Torres) exit from the show. Donna Paulsen (Sarah Rafferty), meanwhile, will be branching out, with the clear specifics of how that will happen being unveiled in the upcoming season.

As a side note, there is a lot of buzz going on that the Jessica Pearson character will have a spin-off show, with Torres reprising this role. However, little detail has been given about this project, other than that it will feature Jessica's life in Chicago.

Season 7 of "Suits" will premiere on July 12, Wednesday, at 9 p.m. on the USA Network.
