'Suits' Season 4 spoilers: Season 5 ordered before season 4 finale

With so much surprising news today, "Suits" getting renewed for season 5 isn't one of them. The season 5 order does not come as a surprise since the lawyer drama TV show from USA has been doing well and it was almost certain that the show will continue. The show utilizes a split-season format, which is doing well for the show.

The ratings for "Suits" have been consistent. In a press release, the USA Network President Chris McCumber said that the season renewal is due to the show continuing "to fire on all cylinders." "Suits" has an average of 1.6 million viewers in the 18-49 demographic. Although this number has already dropped compared to the first two seasons, it's still a pretty good number for season 4. Hence, a 5th season has been confirmed.

The show is currently on season 4 with only two episodes left before "Suits" goes on hiatus. The current season started with Mike Ross working as an investment banker and going head-to-head with Harvey Specter. It was a new way to introduce the season with its two stars on opposite sides of a battle. Mike gave a good fight, but at the end, Specter won, but without the help of Louis Litt.

In the last episode, Mike has come back to Pearson Specter and is now a fraud lawyer again. The firm has to fight SSC's Sean Cahill together. However, without knowing what Louis has done, the firm hands over all their files from the takeover battle. At risk of exposure, Louis comes clean to Jessica. Will the mid-season end on a high note with Pearson-Specter being able to hide what Louis did? Or will Sean Cahill find dirt on the firm?

"Suits" season 4 just started in June and it will return in spring 2014 with another six episodes. For season 5, the order was 16 episodes, which will air in the summer of 2015. This means that the writers for the show have a lot of time to come up with new material and think of a new story arc to keep things interesting, especially now that Mike is back.

Whether it's spring or summer airings, viewership does not drop, according to Cinema Blend. And whether you like it or not, the split-season format is definitely staying. Anyhow, fans of the show must be thrilled about the news. There's going to be plenty of Harvey and Mike to come.
