The runaway hit farming sim game "Stardew Valley" is confirmed to expand soon. According to the game's developer, the title will have its own Mac and Linux versions, to go live on July 29.

"Stardew Valley" developer Eric Barone announced on Twitter that the new versions will be released toward the end of the month. This means that Mac and Linux users will have the chance to try their hands on the game. "Stardew Valley" is currently available on the Windows PC via Steam.

Meanwhile, the developer also updated fans that the anticipated update 1.1 is already in the works, as well as the multiplayer and localization options for the game. This is already anticipated by hardcore players, since Barone has previously announced that multiplayer support will come out for the game. Aside from the new features, fans are also waiting for the console versions of "Stardew Valley," as what the developer has promised. During this year's E3 trade show, Barone told fans that the game will also come out for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Wii U.

With the expansion for the PC version, fans may well look forward to the release of "Stardew Valley" for consoles, although it may roll out later this year since Barone and his team will most likely need to check out porting options for the console upgrades like the Xbox One S and the PS4 Neo.

"Stardew Valley" launched earlier this year and was an instant hit when it rolled out. The game stayed for weeks at the top charts on Steam, gathering more than a million copies in just two months since its launch in February. Meanwhile, prior to update 1.1, fans get to enjoy the regular gameplay, or tweak "Stardew Valley" with different gameplay mods such as the popular "Pokémon"-inspired theme.
