'Shazam' news: Best look at Zachary Levi in costume and in action leaked

A new photo and video from the set of "Shazam" recently hit the internet, giving fans their best look yet at Zachary Levi's eponymous superhero in costume and in action.

The photo, courtesy of Twitter account DC Comics United, features a detailed and head-on shot of the actor in his red and gold suit, complete with the iconic white cape and yellow lightning bolt in the chest. This confirms early speculations that his Shazam costume would be reminiscent of the one used in Geoff Johns and Gary Frank's "Shazam!" backup feature in "Justice League" a couple of years ago.

Not long after the photo surfaced, a new video showing Levi's superhero in action also circulated online. Posted by Jeremy Lawrence on Twitter, the footage sees the titular hero doing what he does best: saving people. As seen from the clip below, it appears he just saved a bus and everyone on board from danger. People flee from the vehicle, gawking at their savior who can be seen acting giddy and proud after.

Take a look at the scene below:

While Levi and his character are grown-up men, Screen Rant notes that Shazam's alter-ego, Billy Batson, is just a kid. The latter character is a 14-year-old boy who gains superpowers from an ancient wizard and turns into a grown-up superhero when he says the word "Shazam." Although it is hard to say when the camera stops rolling, this explains Levi's goofy shenanigan after doing the heroic act in the clip.

Opening in cinemas on April 5, 2019, "Shazam!" is helmed by "Lights Out" director David F. Sandberg. Apart from Levi, the movie also stars Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Grace Fulton as Mary Bromfield, Mark Strong as Doctor Sivana, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, and Ian Chen as Eugene Choi. Jovan Armand, Ron Cephas Jones, Cooper Andrews and Marta Milans will also appear in the film.
