Selena Gomez and Niall Horan split up?

Is it over between Selena Gomez and Niall Horan? According to reports, the two are back to being friends and that the One Direction member is "disappointed" with this development.

A Hollywoodlife source said that the reason why things did not work out was allegedly because the singer-actress did not want to pursue a relationship.

"He would have liked it to have been something but now that time has passed he realizes a relationship with Selena will never happen," said the source. "He is not heartbroken, just disappointed that it never had the chance to be more."

Rumors that the two were dating started circulating last December after they were spotted together at Jenna Dewan Tatum's birthday party in Los Angeles. An eyewitness told Us Weekly that the two were seen kissing in the club. A few weeks later, Gomez and Horan were spotted leaving the "X Factor" finals after-party in London.

While Horan did not comment on the reports, the "I Want You to Know" singer denied that she and the British boy band member were dating. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight at Billboard's 10th Annual Women in Music event back in December, the 23-year-old quashed the rumors, saying, "Oh my God! No. I love him, I always have. He's amazing."

Meanwhile, Gossip Cop reports that the story about Gomez and Horan splitting up is completely false since the two never dated in the first place. The website claims that the Hollywoodlife story about the former Disney star and Horan splitting up was completely fabricated, pointing out that Gomez herself said in an interview last October that the website was "the worst."

Gossip Cop reports that that they checked in with a source close to Gomez and were once again told that she and Horan were never a couple and that Hollywoodlife's stories were "not true" from the start.
