The circumstances will weigh down Olivia (Kerry Washington) even more in episode 12 of "Scandal" season 6.

The official synopsis for the upcoming episode titled "Mercy" reveals that Peus (David Warshofsky) and Ruland (Zoe Perry), along with the support of Mellie (Bellamy Young), are preparing to take over the White House. They are threatening Olivia and everyone she loves so that they can proceed with their plans.

The promotional preview of episode 12 shows Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) confronting Ruland about the dirty secrets of the organization. However, Ruland is not intimidated and even belittles Fitz about his circumstance. She tells him that he is no longer in charge in the White House.

In an attempt to help, Olivia enlists the help of his father Rowan (Joe Morton). She tells him that he is the only one who can help them get out of the mess.

The preview teases that in order to take down their enemy, they must form an alliance and work together, even if they are not completely comfortable with each other in the group. However, the tension between Fitz and Rowan is clear. Will they be able to sort out their differences so they can solve their problem?

Meanwhile, in a sneak peek of the upcoming episode, Rowan and Olivia are confined in a safe room, courtesy of Fitz. However, when Fitz enters the room, Rowan clearly shows how disappointed he is in their relationship.

Fitz attempts to initiate small talk, but Rowan proceeds with his point and voices out that he needs to go to Paris or Zanzibar so that the enemies could not find him. He tells them that he does not intend to join their suicide mission. Nonetheless, he seems to change his mind in the end.

"Scandal" season 6 episode 12 airs on Thursday, April 27, at 9 p.m. EDT on ABC.
