It looks like it will be hard to prove someone's innocence in Olivia's world, as the upcoming episode of "Scandal" will show that making others believe that somebody is not guilty will not be easy.

The synopsis for "Scandal" season 4 episode 6 titled "An Innocent Man" reads:

"Olivia is summoned by a convicted assassin who claims he was wrongly accused, and Mellie becomes intrigued by a former first lady whose stories seem to be strikingly similar to her own. Meanwhile, Elizabeth inches closer to corrupting the White House and Fitz makes a shocking move."

Could this episode help Jake (Scott Foley) prove that he has nothing to do with Jerry Grant's (Dylan Minnette) death? It seems like President Fitz Grant (Tony Goldwyn) is keen on keeping him behind bars, whether he really did kill his son or not.

Meanwhile, Fitz's wife Mellie (Bellamy Young) finally tries to get out of her depressed state after Jerry's death. She meets up with a former first lady, who also happens to have gone through the same ordeal that she is having at the moment.

As if the drama for season 4 is not enough, new characters will be added to make "Scandal's" plot much more interesting.

According to spoilers, Abby Whelan's (Darby Stanchfield) ex-husband Charles Putney (Michael Trucco) will debut in an upcoming episode sometime in November. Charles is the youngest son of a former Virginia governor and was married to Abby for four years. Their relationship ended when he drunkenly assaulted her.

Speaking of Abby, she will continue working as the White House Press Secretary, and her relationship with Olivia will somewhat improve soon after an undisclosed event brings them back together. Maybe Jack's arrest has something to do with it.

Actress Portia de Rossi, portraying the role of RNC Chairwoman Elizabeth North, will again join the cast in episode 6.

"Scandal" season 4 airs Thursdays on ABC.
