Samsung has already confirmed that it is venturing into foldable phones as its next flagship projects. Speculations suggest that the tech company may already be developing the Galaxy X phone and may even come out with two foldable phones as early as next year.

According to Tech Radar, Samsung started with foldable display project with Project Valley in 2014. The industry follower believes that the South Korea-based tech conglomerate may even come out with two foldable phone flagships – a 5.5-inch iteration that folds into two much like a woman's compact and a flagship with a 5-inch display that transforms as an 8-inch tablet when unfolded.

While the former was already showcased way back in 2014, the display was recently sighted at an event. SamMobile reports that based on Samsung's presentation at the SID Display Week 2016, a foldable phone is already a reality. The tech conglomerate demonstrated that a foldable display is entirely possible, though it is still in a controlled environment.

Previously, it is already rumored that Samsung is coming out with bendable/foldable phones as early as next year. The so-called Galaxy X is part of the five-flagship releases that Samsung is reportedly planning in 2017. The foldable phone will allegedly be joined by 2017 releases of the Galaxy S8 and the next Galaxy Note. While the Galaxy S8 is already expected to come in 2017, there is still debate on what the Galaxy Note will be called. Recently, rumors said that Samsung is planning to skip a version of the Galaxy Note, going straight to Galaxy Note 7 from the current-gen Galaxy Note 5.

As for the foldable phone, observers expect that Samsung will be forming a new lineup for the flagship as the Galaxy X series, and will not introduce the display technology to the next Galaxy S or Galaxy Note lineups.
